We are still waiting to see who comes out victorious in ultrarunning’s Summer Spine race, but we do have results (and new course records) for the Summer Spine Sprints.
The four races produced epic action with the Sprint South delivering incredible new course records for men and women.
Nottingham GP Chris Cope claimed victory in the men’s race in a course record time of 6:36:41 – shaving just under 18 minutes off the mark set by Rupert Allison in 2023.
Montane athlete Victoria Thompson from the Lake District was peerless in the women’s race and she too set a new course record – 7:49:44 to destroy the previous mark of 8:30:29 by Holly Browne in 2024.
The inaugural Summer Spine Sprint North saw 21-year-old Matias Morgan claim victory in the men’s race in a time of 8:51:55.
Louise Goddard from Lancaster is the first Summer Spine Sprint North female winner. Incredibly, Louise had already taken second place in the Summer Spine Sprint South at the weekend. That brings her tally of Spine medals to four.
