It’s going to be hard not to make this review a love letter to Ryka, but I will do my best. The Ryka Devo X Max is a walking shoe that’s going to cause FOMO amongst your friends.

If you haven’t heard of Ryka, it’s the first athletic shoe company solely dedicated to women. With RTTF being a woman-founded brand, we love this!!

The shoes are designed to specifically fit a woman’s unique foot shape, muscle movement, and build. They were even awarded the American Podiatric Medical Association’s Seal of Acceptance for promoting good foot health.

On top of all of that, every pair on their website is super stylish! Want to go from a run or even playing pickleball right to brunch, say no more!

Why is the Ryka Devo X Max a versatile shoe that you should consider trying? Keep reading to learn more.

Who is the Ryka Devo X Max a good fit for? Let’s break it down with some common categories:

Walking Workouts:  100% grab these for your power walks.
Wide Feet: The midfoot is a little narrow, but select colorways are available in wide!
Standing All Day:  The combo of the insole and cushioning will keep feet comfortable all day long.
Daily Wear:  They’re perfect for a workout or casual wear for errands

Ryka Devo X Max Overview

Before we dive into more details about the Ryka Devo X Max , let’s go over how Ryka shoes are designed for women.

Each pair of shoes, regardless of the activity, is going to be based on the Ryka Q technology.  “Our game-changing tech is based on the ‘Q Angle’, the inside angle of the quadriceps muscle that is 3-4% great in women than men, which impacts a women’s stance and weight distribution on her feet.”

If you’re not sure which Ryka shoe is the best fit for you, take the Ryka Shoe Finder Quiz directly on their website.

The Ryka Devotion Collection was designed to get you through almost any type of workout. You can grab the Ryka Devo X Max for power walks, run/walk intervals, and even a HIIT class.

Since Ryka shoes are designed for women, the structure of the shoe is a little different than most. You’ll find that there’s a wider forefoot and a narrower heel for a more secure fit.

Ryka Devotion X Max Walking Shoe

The first time that I wore the Ryka Devo X Max, the narrower midfoot did bother me a little, but after breaking the shoes in, the fit felt very comfortable.

Even with the anatomical insole there to provide extra arch support, I noticed that my foot was still overpronating (foot rolls inward) just a smidge.

As we say in all of our reviews, try them on and see how they feel for you.

Ryka Devo X Max Care Instructions

Living here in Colorado, my shoes never stand a chance of staying bright and clean.  One of my favorite features of the Ryka Devo X Max shoes is that they come treated with a RYKÄSHIELD  stain protector.

If you get them dirty with mud, dust, or even a coffee spill, just splash on some cold water to get the stain out. No product or scrubbing needed!

Ryka Devo X Max Specifications

Does a shoe ever just really surprise you? I’ve never worn Ryka and now I’m a devoted fan. This says a lot when I’ve got a closet full of shoes from testing.

Ryka Devo X Max Fit

Overall, the fit of the Ryka Devo X Max is true to size. For reference, I typically wear a size 11 and throw on a pair of swiftwick socks.

The one thing that I immediately noticed was the insole poking into the arch of my foot. This does go away with breaking in the shoes, so don’t judge the fit based on your first wear!

However, if you’re someone who needs a wider fit, there are certain colorways available in wide.

Ryka Devo X Max Heel Collar

The back of the shoe is made with a durable molded heel overlay.  Because it’s a flexible rubber material, it’s super easy to slide the Ryka Devo X Max on and off, even with the laces still tied.

Skechers Go Walk 7 Slip ins have a similar heel design, but the rubber is firmer and not as flexible as the Ryka Devo X Max.Ryka Devo X Max Women OwnedYou can see that the heel collar and tongue have just the right amount of padding, so you don’t have to worry about what socks you wear.

If you tightly tie your shoes, the tongue will scrunch together a little bit, but I never noticed any digging or rubbing while walking around. Taking the extra time to adjust the tongue will do the trick!

Plus, I think the more that you wear them, the shoe truly forms to your feet.

Like with most shoes today, the Ryka Devo X Max is made with breathable air mesh, making it easy to wiggle your toes around. Plus, the mesh is perfect to keep your feet cool if you’re sweating a lot during those HIIT workouts.

Ryka Devo X Max Feel

Smooth like butter is how I would describe the feel of the Ryka Devo X Max.

They’re lightweight, just the right amount of cushion, and you can even feel a little pop with each stride.

These aren’t your everyday walking shoes. Ryka packed in a lot of cool technology to make these feel so smooth.

In addition to the Ryka Q Angle, each layer of the Ryka Devo X Max is there to give you the support and cushioning you need without adding extra weight.

Ryka Devo X Max HeelThe midsole uses lightweight EVA foam and full-length RE-ZORB® cushioning to soften impact and absorb shock as you move.

Whether you’re power walking or jumping around for some plyometrics, there are also RE-ZORB® LITE pads in the forefoot and heel for more bounce and support.

Ryka Deco X Max OutsolePlus, you’ll see that there are durable eight-piece rubber outsoles with flex grooves to prevent you from slipping and sliding around. This high-quality rubber is extra durable, so the outsole won’t wear down anytime soon.

This is truly a versatile shoe that you can grab for basically anything. Bonus points because there are a ton of colorways, and no matter what you pick, they’re going to go with every outfit.

On the Ryka website, there are shoes for every type of activity, even sandals and water shoes for summer adventures.

We hope this Ryka Devo X Max review got you excited to give Ryka a try if you haven’t already!

We like how lightweight and versatile this shoe is. There is some room for improvement in the fit, especially with how the tapered midfoot. But it’s got a more stylish look that will keep us coming back.
