I’ve been lucky enough to have tried a few products from Runly recently and spoken to the founders and creators a few times, and I love their passion for innovation and creating products that are fit for purpose and high quality.
In recent months they’d launched their latest vest, the Hybrid Pro. Now, I know what you’re thinking, do we need another running vest? Surely a vest is a vest right? Well, I’m not so sure. I’ve burned through many brands of vest and I think this one might take the win for the most sturdy with the potential to be the longest lasting.
The new Hybrid Pro running vest is adjustable, comfortable, high quality, lightweight, and definitely not short on storage options.Â
I chose to wear it for my recent adventure at Coast to Kosciusko (C2K), a 240km run in NSW from Eden to the summit of Kosciusko in November. Whilst I didn’t wear it for the entire time as I didn’t need to thanks to amazing crew who can crew and pace from very early on in the race at any point required, but the time I did wear it, it was fantastic. No chafe, soft seams, loads of storage options and adjustable in several places.Â
The zips are weather sealed and there is a dedicated waterproof phone pocket (excellent). When I wore this for C2K it was about 37 degrees, so it got put through its paces sweat-wise. I was wearing ice buffs to keep cool and everything in my pockets stayed dry.
It’s got about 12 reflective strips to make sure you’re visible at night (both from a safety perspective and so others know you’re a hard core runner). It’s got multiple points where it’s adjustable and is available in two sizes, which is great as a smaller runner who struggles with most packs fitting well.Â
At only 235g it’s super light. For a comparison, the Salomon Advance Skin 12 is 293g.Â
With 12 pockets, the Runly Hybrid Pro also comes with a carry case so that when its off your person for your long runs or events, you can keep it separate from all your non running gear for the journey home.
The only thing I can’t comment on is the amount of gear you can keep in it. I didn’t need any mandatory gear, so although it looks like you could carry the full whack (like a UTA100 list of gear) I can’t personally guarantee it.
I really enjoyed wearing the Runly Hybrid Pro Running Vest and it’s a great budget friendly option. I would definitely recommend giving this vest a good look at when considering your next purchase.
