Will Goodge is no stranger to Australia and will be back Down Under for his latest challenge when he competes at the Sydney Marathon on August 30.

Goodge, who runs in honour of his Mum, hit the headlines in May when he claimed a record-breaking run across the country – taking four days off the previous record – a result he is still waiting for the Guinness Book of Records to verify.

He told TRI247 after completing that epic challenge that he would be taking it easy for a while, before attempting to complete all seven major marathons next year.

“I couldn’t stay away”

But the 31-year-old Bedfordshire endurance athlete, who has raised thousands for charity, obviously couldn’t resist starting early.

Posting on Instagram, he wrote: “I couldn’t stay away for too long… gassed to announce that my first race back will be the 2025 TCS Sydney Marathon with @porscheaus 🇦🇺 time to get back to what I love #ad“

Since then Goodge, who plans to launch his own brand of sunglasses later this year, has been in Italy training for the big event.

Goodge has happy memories of Sydney as that’s where he finished his Run Across Australia, cheered on by fans eager to celebrate with him.

He ran the equivalent of 90 marathons at a rate of more than two per day to complete that challenge, covering nearly 4,000km of unforgiving terrain all the way from Perth.

“Crazy experience”

Afterwards, he enjoyed a change of pace at the Monaco Formula One Grand Prix, before telling RUN247: “Australia was a crazy experience and I always give myself space after these big ones to decompress.

“But I’m always looking for the next thing, and next year I have a goal I’d like to tick off – doing all the world’s major marathons. And doing them all in sub three hours would be quite cool.

“I have a big desire to explore the world this way. Next year will probably be a down year but I already have a bunch of ideas. I want to look at doing my first IRONMAN as well.”
