Made In Chelsea star Jamie Laing says epic £2.2m Comic Relief challenge broke him down to his ‘raw self’ | Ultramarathon News

Made In Chelsea star Jamie Laing, who took on the challenge of completing five ultramarathons in five days in March to raise £2.2million for Comic Relief, has reflected on his epic accomplishment.

Laing ran 30 miles per day over the five-day period, running between London and Salford ahead of Red Nose Day 2025.

The 36-year-old, speaking on the Good Morning Britain TV show this week, discussed his emotional state during the challenge, admitting 30 years of bottled-up emotions spilled out, breaking him down to his “raw self”.

Mental Health Awareness

Laing appeared on the ITV morning show encouraging men to talk about their mental health to mark Mental Health Awareness Week – which takes between May 12 and 18.

The reality TV star spoke openly about his own mental health experiences – specifically anxiety and panic attacks – and admitted the anxiety of completing such a difficult challenge for Comic Relief had affected him.

“With mental health, especially with anxiety, one of the hardest things is to accept (it), and for me, I’ve learned to accept it. That’s my make-up, that’s who I am. So I think on the run, I learned to accept it,” he said.

“The run made me become my raw self. I’d never really cried that much, I’d never really done any of that. Suddenly, it was all coming out. It was like 30 years of just holding everything in that suddenly was coming out,” he shared.

Linking his challenge to the conversion, Laing added: “It was also the metaphor of (putting) one foot in front of the other. If you’re going through a tricky time, you’ve just got to keep going… don’t stop, don’t give up, just keep going.”
