Keely Hodgkinson, Jemma Reekie and Georgia Hunter Bell will headline the women’s 800m at the Stockholm Diamond League on Sunday 15 June, organisers have announced.

Keely Hodgkinson will open her season at the Stockholm Diamond League, organisers have announced. The Stockholm Olympic Stadium is a venue the Olympic Champion has fond memories of, having raced there in 2021 and 2022.

She set (at the time) a PB of 1:57.51, before going on to win silver at the Olympic Games in Tokyo and her maiden Diamond League title. At her last Diamond League appearance, in London last year, she improved her PB and British Record to 1:54.61.

“Stockholm will always be a special place for me to compete in. It was where I first realised that I could really compete with the best in the world, and to come back here as an Olympic champion feels fantastic. I really hope we can give the crowd a fast and entertaining race”, Hodgkinson said in a press release.

Reekie & Hunter Bell Too

She will be joined by fellow Brits Jemma Reekie and Georgia Hunter Bell. The pair finished second and third respectively in that historic race at last year’s London Diamond League. Jemma won last year’s 800m in Stockholm in 1:57.79. That was the third fastest time of her season, behind only the Prefontaine Classic and that London race.

“I enjoy competing in Stockholm, and it is inspiring to go into the competition with two victories from previous year. I had a fantastic season in 2024, and hope to run even faster this year – and hopefully secure another victory at BAUHAUS-galan”, Reekie said.

Next month’s visit will be Georgia’s first to the Stockholm Olympic Stadium. It will not be her first time competing in the city, however. She won the indoor 1500m at the Folksam Grand Prix last February. Her career has changed quite a bit since that race!

The Stockholm Diamond League takes place on Sunday 15 June.
