Could you imagine a better way to spend your post-marathon recovery than relaxing with nice glass of wine? It seems that the winner of the Sunday’s Alsace Vineyard Marathon in Molsheim, France, will be doing a lot of that in the coming weeks–or months. Emilie Tissot of Strasbourg, France won the 42.2K race in 2:50:37–and, for her grand prize, received her weight in bottles of wine.
It’s safe to say she’ll be set for dinner parties or housewarming gifts for awhile, taking home 51 bottles.
The Alsace Vineyard Marathon, or Marathon du Vignoble d’Alsace, courses through the vineyards of the Alsace region in northeastern France, featuring 12 food and wine tasting stops along the way. It’s a festive event, with many participants running in costumes. There’s also a half-marathon, 10K and walking event offered, as well as kids and junior races.

Wine grape varieties offered at the tasting stops include Riesling, rosé, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Gewürztraminer, Crémant and Sylvaner. At the end of the race, all participants receive a medal, a bottle of wine and a finisher T-shirt.
Tissot, a road and trail runner and full-time physiotherapist, was eight minutes off her marathon personal best of 2:42:50. Last year, the 32-year-old earned the bronze medal at the French Marathon Championships; she’s also a former French race walk champion.
