Entries are now open to the incredible Run Bibbulmun Track Stage Race held from Friday 14th to Sunday 16th November 2025, in the Great Southern Region of Western Australia.
The three-day ultra stage running race promises an unforgettable experience for individual runners amidst the rugged coastline, remote beaches, and windswept granite cliffs of the famed Bibbulmun Track.
Runners bolted out the door to secure their entry with a third of the places available claimed within the first hour of entries opening! Organisers Rapid Ascent have self-imposed a field limit of 300 solo runners in order to maintain a very minimal environmental impact and ensure an exceptional experience for all. Interested competitors are invited to get their entry in early, and can do so without the need for a support crew.
Two race distances are on offer for the 3 day, 3 stage race for individual entrants – the Karri Long Course covering 33 – 39km per day; and the Tingle Short Course spanning 17 – 24km per day.
The courses are named after the spectacularly gigantic Karri Trees and Tingle Trees which are synonymous with the Great Southern Region of Western Australia, with long course competitors running past both species during the stage race.
Winner of the 2024 Tingle Short Course race Lachie McDougall said of the event;
“There were three very unique stages that were all beautiful in their own right,” said McDougall. “I like how each stage was so different to each other; and the fact that you could run alongside fellow competitors and just have a chat is pretty special I think.”
Runners will traverse the most postcard-worthy sections of the Bibbulmun Track, immersing themselves in the raw beauty of the landscape. Popular landmarks such as Greens Pool and Elephant Rock are also on the courses, providing runners with varied and captivating landscapes throughout the race.
General Manager of Rapid Ascent Sam Maffett is encouraged by the enthusiasm shown so far;
“We’re stoked that so many of our running community share our passion for adventure and challenge in beautiful landscapes,” said Maffett. “And when it comes to trail running locations, the Great Southern region is one of Australia’s best kept secrets!”
“It truly is a remarkable course in a remarkable setting, and being more accessible to runners we honestly can’t wait to welcome a new set of comrades to run in an area of Australia rarely visited by people,” continued Maffett.
Past participants shared their enthusiasm on the course’s beauty;
“The stages were simply beautiful and all the wildflowers on the ridge were truly amazing!” – 2024 Long Course race winner Victoria Cole.
“The best trail run I have ever experienced! Not only is it beautiful, it’s been the best decision ever to run this event with my friend!” – Martha Wood, 2024 participant.
“There are so many beautiful places along this course – you go over the tough sand dunes that would then open up to the most amazing views!” – Notable ultra stage race alumnae Kate Cush.
Based in Denmark (WA), competitors will stay in one location throughout the entirety of the race, ensuring simple logistics and allowing for relaxation each afternoon after completing the day’s run.
“No support crew will be needed by the individual competitors, making it a very accessible event,” said Maffett. “Transport is provided for each stage, allowing everyone to focus solely on the running without the hassle of support crew arrangements.”
The event format follows in the footsteps of the immensely popular Run Larapinta Stage Race that brings together running enthusiasts from across the Country; reaching its own field limit within hours.
The Great Southern is the largest and most diverse region within Australia’s South West, with the event supported once again by the City of Albany.
With strictly limited entries remaining, interested runners are encouraged not to miss their chance to be part of this extraordinary event that celebrates running, nature, and camaraderie in one of Australia’s most stunning regions.
