Emile Cairess and Calli Hauger-Thackery will represent Great Britain in the marathon at the World Championships in Tokyo, UK Athletics has announced.Â
Emile Cairess and Calli Hauger-Thackery have been selected to represent Great Britain and Northern Ireland in the marathon at the World Championships, which take place in Tokyo between 13 and 21 September.
Cairess is selected on the back of a third place finish at last year’s London Marathon. In that race he improved his PB to 2:06:46. He followed this up with a fantastic fourth placed finish at the Olympic Games in Paris last summer.
Hauger-Thackery improved her PB to 2:21:24 at the Berlin Marathon last September. Most recently she finished sixth at last month’s Boston Marathon in 2:22:38.
Further selections will be announced in August, following the British Championships (2-3 August in Birmingham).
