Canada is sending a stacked team of 30 athletes to next month’s North American, Central American and Caribbean Athletic Association (NACAC) Track and Field Championships, set Aug. 15-17 in Freeport, The Bahamas. Athletics Canada unveiled the roster on Thursday, which includes 17 Olympians and 19 athletes with world championships experience–putting Canada in a strong position to improve on its 14-medal haul from the 2022 edition.
Seventeen women and 13 men were named to the team.
The event, hosted at the Grand Bahama Sports Complex, comes just a month before the 2025 World Championships in Tokyo, offering athletes a chance to gain valuable experience ahead of competing on the global stage.
“My goals for the competition will be to first execute each of my races well, with a view to preparing myself well for the World Championships,” Gatineau, Que.’s Audrey Leduc, the national record holder in the 100m and 200m, said in the Athletics Canada press release. “I would love to win one or more medals and also set some personal bests.” For Leduc and 19 others, the competition will mark their NACAC debut.
