New Balance enters GPS watch market with TAG Heuer collab

A collaboration three years in the making is finally here.

Luxury watchmaker TAG Heuer and American running giant New Balance have teamed up to redefine what premium training gear looks like. Last week at New Balance’s Boston headquarters, the brand unveiled a GPS sports watch and a companion carbon-plated shoe designed to blur the line between performance and luxury.

Built around a lightweight, sandblasted black titanium case, the Connected Calibre E5 GPS watch has a 1.2-inch OLED display that runs on TAG Heuer’s proprietary operating system. The watch also comes preloaded with six adaptive training plans created by New Balance athletes/coaches, and has a bi-material strap, inspired by the layered construction of New Balance’s running shoes, tying the collection together.

These plans automatically adjust to your schedule with no subscriptions, fees or extra apps required. Whether you’re chasing your first 10K or training for next year’s TCS London Marathon, the E5 is positioned as the ideal watch for runners who want performance and polish in equal measure.

The watch’s custom interface mirrors the violet-and-green accents of its companion shoe, the TAG Heuer x New Balance FuelCell SuperComp Elite v5. Launched earlier this summer, the performance racing shoe features a full-length carbon plate embedded between layers of lightweight, PEBA-based FuelCell foam, which delivers a smoother, more efficient and bouncy ride at your goal pace. You can check out Canadian Running’s full video review of the shoe here.

Antoine Pin, the CEO of TAG Heuer, said the goal with this collaboration was to design a watch and shoe to serve people who want to surpass themselves. “Working with New Balance challenged us to rethink what runners expect from their gear,” said Pin. “Every decision was made to support athletes who treat running as a craft.”

Two-time Olympic 400m hurdles champion and American 400m record holder Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, who represents both TAG Heuer and New Balance, echoed Pin’s vision:

“TAG Heuer is all about being designed to win. That’s what drew me to this collaboration. Being the face of this new campaign with New Balance is exciting because I love what this watch and shoe bring to training—they’re built for athletes who want to stay accountable, trust their plan and keep pushing for better every single day.”

The TAG Heuer x New Balance Connected Calibre E5 and matching FuelCell SuperComp Elite v5 are available now in limited quantities online through TAG Heuer and New Balance stores.
